Séminaire du 28 janvier 2008, 14h00: Integration of Algebraic Functions using Groebner Bases. Manuel Kauers, RISC-Linz and Equipe Algorithms.

A new method is proposed for finding the logarithmic part of an integral over an algebraic function. The method uses Groebner bases and is easy to implement. It does not have the feature of finding a closed form of an integral whenever there is one. But it very often does, as we will show by a comparison with the built-in integrators of some computer algebra systems.
