Rational points on varieties over finite fields.
We will focus on the problem of counting the number of rational points of
varieties over finite fields. While it is usually very difficult to count them exactly, in various applications
(for instance, in coding theory), less information is sufficient. An approach consists in providing upper bounds,
conditions for the existence of rational points, estimates, etc. In this talk we
will review some classical and new results in this direction.
