Quickscore Library: Statistics and Genomics |
Statistical algorithms rely on the basic assumption that the nucleotides in the genome of an organism are randomly generated according to some probability model. Two common models in genomics are the Bernoulli model and the Markov model. According to the model, different caracteristics - as the expectation, the variance, the Z-score and the p-value - of a given motif can be computed.
The ALGORITHMS Project at the INRIA Rocquencourt, France has developped dedicated and optimized algorithms written in C and Maple to assess the statistical significance of the motif. The QuickScore on-line library - developed by the project - makes those algorithms available on line. The QuickScore on-line library consists in HTML forms which call those algorithms.
