Computer Algebra is my main research interest. Specifically, my work is at the interface between computer algebra and the analysis of algorithms and combinatorial models: combinatorics provides me with problems whose resolution motivates the development of new algorithms; conversely, algorithmic advances of computer algebra makes it possible to prove combinatorial results automatically, and to obtain new ones. Besides, algorithms developped in this way turn out to have far-reaching applications in computer algebra.
When I do not work in the INRIA Centre at Rocquencourt, I do part of my research at the MSR-INRIA Joint Centre.
I have tought 8 years at École polytechnique. See the (French) web page about my courses there.
I still teach computer algebra in the MPRI. See the (French) web page about my (joint) course there.
From October 1998 to February 1999, I was a post-doctoral fellow visiting the Combinatorics group at RISC, Linz (Autria). Together with Peter Paule from RISC, I am working on a chapter to be part of the Digital Library of Mathematical Functions.
