merge m things with n (minimum average)

Sorry, I tried to locate the reference to Journal of Algorithms 5, wich 
Philippe Flajolet mentioned in his message dated Sun, 28 Sep 1997. 

I am unable to find this reference though in Knuth's errata for Volume
3. 
Am I overlooking something or has there been a retraction in the mean
time? 
Is there any further news on this problem?
