Tatihou Island (France), July 1--7, 2001

(Text and scenario by Virginie Collette)

At the harbour of Saint-Vaast la Hougue, we take a strange sort of boat (it has wheels!) in order to cross the half mile to the island, and we arrive (safely). We discover the environment of the Center. There, we have at our disposal a conference room, a computer room, a restaurant (also serves as a bar), and an enjoyable yard for breaks, a time when we can also pay a visit to Abélard.

  • We are waiting for the boat before the visit to the German batteries of Azeville, in Normandy. Visit of a farm-museum where we can taste cider (no photographic evidence of this, though).

  • An evening of dances animated by a group of musicians.

  • The full-day excursion consists in a traversal by foot of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. We take off from the dunes of Plage des Genêts where a picnic has been arranged.
We start the traversal, 6 kms (3.5 miles) on sand, in order to reach the rock of Tombelaine and, eventually, Mont-Saint-Michel.

  • The banquet evening where we shall also dance.

  • Preparing for the group photo.

  • Preparation for departure near the restaurant, then we take the path leading to the landing area. We leave the Caen Team packing computers and equipment. Farewell!
